Hey Everyone,
Welcome to my blog. I write some lame stuff on here and my spelling and punctuation isn't the greatest but its me. I hope you can pick out some interesting points and useful ideas. This is kinda a journal for myself, to help me reflect upon experiences and delve into my leanings. It almost feels like therapy and I make it public to open up conversations around me with people as I enjoy discussions about 'deep' things. Feel free to shoot me a question or whatever but please respect my thoughts, I'm naturally quite internal and generally don't enjoy sharing with everyone. Also please understand I am in no way an expert on anything, I am just a guy trying to better myself and grow in every aspect of my life.
A little bit about me:
My name is Cole Durant.
I was born in South Africa but raised on the West-side of Australia. I am very proud to be from WA and I have represented my state in both Indoor and Beach many times. In 2009 I was very privileged to get selected to go to the Junior u19 World Championships in Turkey. I was knocked out in the qualification rounds but this experience got me hooked on Beach Volleyball and I knew this sport was what I loved and wanted to do.
Late 2010 I started training full time under PBVS or the Perth Beach Volleyball School with Martin Suan (http://www.pbvs.com.au). I did this to peruse playing Beach Volleyball and to earn another opportunity to represent my country. In 2011 after a good season on the National Series and after winning a silver at the Australian Junior Championships, I was the second highest ranked junior in the country and I was still not selected to represent Australia. I was shattered. I was sacrificing so much time, effort and money. From training on the sand 15 hours a week, in the gym 6 hours a week, studying at University full time, working part-time to afford coaches, rehab and travel and competing in tournaments every second weekend it took its toll on me and my belief in my dream. I took a little step back; I was disheartened but kept playing for the love of the sport.
In 2012 everything started to come together and my outcomes improved. I played to enjoy the fight, passion and competition. I made a National Tour Final and finished as the 2nd overall team on tour. After my performances I was then selected in 2013 to compete at the u23 World Junior Championships as well as given my first opportunity to represent the Australian senior men's team.
Since then I've never looked back and keep striving forward I've been to many different countries and had some amazing results both domestically and internationally on the FIVB World Tour and I aspire to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games
Join me on my adventures around the world competing in the sport I love and chasing my Olympic dream while representing my country with pride.
